Helping clients with material aid packs

Providing material aid to our clients is just as crucial as accommodation and support. Many clients arrive at Kara FVS with very little and often have no access to finances. When clients first come into refuge, we provide them with linen packs, clothing packs, toiletry packs, and toy packs. Thanks to the generous support from our community through in-kind gifts and financial donations, we can offer these essential items.
As a small organisation with limited team members and storage, we work hard to prepare these packs in advance so our family violence practitioners can quickly grab them off the shelf. Recently, we’ve been fortunate to receive pre-made packs from some of our kind donors.
The Kiwanis’ of Waverley
A heartfelt thank you to the amazing Kiwanis Club of Waverley for their generous donation of 30 toiletry packs. When we mentioned we were running low, the club came together and created these essential packs for both women and children which included, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste and much more. Special thanks to Anne and Sue for making the process so seamless.
The Social Education Group
A huge thank you to The Social Education Group for delivering 100 women’s toiletry packs in early April. This incredible organisation offers team-building sessions for corporate and school groups, highlighting the social challenges faced by Australian communities and providing practical ways to get involved in community solutions. These wonderful packs were assembled by the students at Brighton Grammar School who provided the contents and each pack included a heartfelt note to remind the women that the community is thinking of them. Thank you once again to The Social Education Group and the students for their kindness.
Impact for Women
We were delighted to receive an donation of 80 “Bags of Love” from Impact for Women, just in time for Mother’s Day! These beautifully curated bags, assembled by dedicated volunteers, are filled with luxurious items such as face and body care products, chocolates and more. Each gift is generously donated by our local community and includes a heartfelt message for the women who receive them.
